About this brand

The softness of Canat collections is an invitation to stay in bed (nightwear, loungewear)
When the brand started out, in 1923, it specialized in gloves. Its founder, Joseph Canat, decided to switch the focus to women’s lingerie in the 1950s, to boost business and make the most of the company’s expertise in cutting and sewing knit fabrics. But it was in the late 1960s that the brand succeeded in creating its own highly identifiable style, at the impetus of then director Charles Canat’s wife, a fantastically creative former cabaret singer. She came up with the brand’s famous velour loungewear outfits with large-scale Pop Art-inspired motifs, which brought the brand considerable success towards the end of the 1970s. Since then, Canat has continued to stand out from competitors, through its exclusive prints: at once chic and understated, they are always tasteful. Occupying a firmly upscale positioning, the brand takes great care when selecting fabrics to ensure that garments are comfortable and last well over time. It favours 100% cotton interlock, as well as using microfibre fur and blends of polyamide, viscose and cotton for cosy warmth in winter. Easy to wear and comfortable, Canat collections are available in a wide range of colours, from traditional to fashion-forward shades.
